Narrative Technology Engineer, Telltale Games
Location: San Rafael, CA Telltale Games, a fast-growing digital publisher of licensed interactive episodic content on all gaming platforms is looking for a bright, resourceful engineer to help us deliver the next generation of tools and pipeline needed to produce the industry’s best interactive narrative content. Telltale’s Core Engineering team is responsible for implementing the tool kit and platform that is used by artists, designers, and Lua programmers to create and distribute all our games for Xbox360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PC, Mac, IOS, and Android. The Core Engineering group creates true “author once, run anywhere” technology. Responsibilities – Own the content creation tool kit used by the interactive narrative and production teams. – Build and maintain dialog and screenplay systems to support a team of writers and designers. – Build tools which help animators and designers develop the digital game character’s performance, with a focus on automation, multiple takes, dialog driven emotion, and situation aware animations. – Create movie quality cinematography and choreography tools used by the teams to edit, polish, and present content. – Create Lua script and logic system driven animation, acting, and cinematography to enable the creativity exploration by the studio. – Facilitate, capture, and automate artists processes such as writing, animation, cinematography and editing. Essential Skills – Strong fluency in C++/STL and 3+ professional C++ experience is required. – 3+ years of professional experience building tools for games or other artistic technology. – 2+ years of experience in a creative field, like writing, animation, or design. – Self-directing and independent, working effectively within an existing engine structure. – Detail oriented “finisher” with proven ability to create tested, reliable systems for rapid deployment. – Experience maintaining and debugging a large code base developed by multiple programmers over many years.
